MPI FT1021 Opto Gas Engine Kill Switch
The MPI FT1021 Gas Ignition Kill Switch provides a convenient way to remotely turn your gas engine's electronic ignition system on or off from your transmitter.
The FT1021 is opto isolated, providing complete input/output isolation between the receiver side and the ignition system. This helps keep ignition-system electrical noise separated from sensitive radio equipment.
A remote On/Off indicator LED provides a visible indication of ignition status, making it easier to confirm whether the ignition system is armed before starting or operating the engine.
Key Features
- Remote transmitter-controlled gas ignition shutoff
- Opto isolated input and output
- 100% input/output isolation
- 8-bit PIC micro-controller
- Compatible with LiPo and NiMH/NiCd ignition battery systems
- 10V / 15A MOSFET output
- Universal receiver connector
- Remote On/Off indicator LED
- 100% surface-mount construction
- Compact and lightweight at only 11 g (0.39 oz)
Radio Compatibility
Designed for use with 2.4 GHz and 72 MHz radio systems with failsafe capability.
Important: A properly configured failsafe is required. Always verify that the ignition system shuts off correctly during failsafe operation and from the assigned transmitter switch before operating the engine.

Why Use an Opto-Isolated Ignition Kill Switch?
Electronic ignition systems can generate electrical noise. The FT1021 electrically isolates the receiver-controlled input from the ignition-system output, helping prevent ignition-related electrical interference from being transferred into the radio system.
The transmitter-controlled kill function also provides a convenient way to shut down the ignition without physically accessing the aircraft's ignition switch.
Typical Applications
- Gas-powered RC airplanes
- Electronic ignition-equipped model aircraft engines
- Sport and scale gas aircraft
- Giant-scale RC aircraft
Package Includes
- 1 × MPI FT1021 Gas Ignition Kill Switch
