✈️ The Legend of the Lavochkin LA-7
The Lavochkin La-7 was a piston-engine, single-seat Soviet fighter aircraft developed during World War II. An evolution of the La-5, it took its first flight in 1944 and quickly proved itself as one of the finest fighters on the Eastern Front — faster, more maneuverable, and better armed than many of its contemporaries. Flown by top Soviet aces including Ivan Kozhedub, the highest-scoring Allied ace of the war, the La-7 was retired in 1952 with just over 5,750 produced. Today it stands as one of the most celebrated and underrepresented warbirds of WWII — a standout addition to any serious collection.

Historical Context
The Lavochkin La-7 was the pinnacle of Soviet piston-engine fighter development in World War II. Born from the La-5 lineage, it combined a powerful air-cooled radial engine with a refined aerodynamic airframe to produce a fighter that could match — and often outperform — the best German aircraft of the era. Flown by legendary ace Ivan Kozhedub, who scored 17 of his 64 kills in the La-7, this aircraft played a decisive role in the air war over the Eastern Front. With only 5,753 built and few surviving examples, the La-7 is a rare and compelling subject for any giant-scale warbird builder.
