MPI LED Receiver Charge Switch – Futaba J

The MPI 5170 combines a heavy-duty receiver power switch, an external charging port, and a three-LED onboard battery monitor in one airframe-mounted assembly. It is designed for RC receiver systems using Futaba J-style connectors and 4.8V or 6.0V receiver battery packs.

The green, yellow, and red LEDs provide a convenient visual indication of receiver-pack condition while the system is operating under load. This gives you a more useful check than viewing the battery without the normal load from the receiver and servos.

An integrated charge port allows the receiver battery to be charged without removing it from the aircraft. The charge-port cover helps protect the connection from dirt and debris, while the soft-mount design helps isolate the switch from engine and airframe vibration.

Important Compatibility Information

This version is designed for 4.8V and 6.0V receiver systems with Futaba J-style connectors. It is not the correct voltage-monitor version for 7.4V LiPo or Li-ion receiver packs. Confirm battery voltage, connector type, and connector polarity before installation.

LED Monitor Note

The LEDs provide a convenient general indication of receiver-pack condition under load. They do not replace proper charging practices, routine battery testing, or a dedicated battery-capacity test.

Installation and Charging

Secure the switch and wiring away from moving parts, sharp edges, and hot engine components. Place the receiver system in the OFF position before connecting charging equipment. Always follow the battery and charger manufacturers’ instructions.
