The Gator RC Small CA Hinges are precision laser-cut hinges designed for lightweight RC aircraft and thin control surfaces. Their ultra-thin profile and flexible material create smooth, low-friction movement while providing outstanding strength when installed with thin CA adhesive.

The unique slotted design allows thin CA glue to wick deep into the hinge, producing a strong mechanical bond throughout the hinge surface. The rounded corners simplify installation by making it easier to insert each hinge into pre-cut slots.

⚠ Installation & Glue Choice Note: Formed to strict structural dimensions of 17mm x 10mm with an ultra-thin 0.3mm (0.012") profile thickness. Always center the hinge before gluing, and use thin CA to allow it to wick completely into the wood fibers. For EPS or EPO foam structures, you must substitute standard glue for a foam-safe CA adhesive to prevent chemical melting.

🔧 Workbench Installation Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Use a sharp No. 11 hobby blade or specialized slotting tool to slice a narrow centerline slot into each mating surface.
  2. Slide the small CA hinge into the slot, centering the pivot split perfectly along the hinge gap line.
  3. Push the control surface and trailing edge together, leaving a hair-thin clearance gap for free throw movement.
  4. Apply 2 to 3 drops of thin CA directly over the hinge tab interface on both sides, allowing it to wick deep into the internal wood framing before drying.

To ensure your control surfaces hinge completely straight without drifting, push a standard straight T-pin directly through the exact horizontal center of the CA hinge tab before sliding it into the balsa slot. The pin acts as a temporary mechanical stop, keeping the hinge perfectly centered between the wing and the aileron leaves while you adjust your throws. Pull the T-pin out right before dripping your thin CA down into the slot track.
