FrSky RB-35S Redundancy Bus with Advanced Stabilizer

The FrSky RB-35S is a high-capacity power distribution and receiver redundancy system designed for large, complex, and high-value RC aircraft. It combines dual battery inputs, triple receiver redundancy, 24 configurable channel ports, independently adjustable dual BEC outputs, channel overload protection, telemetry monitoring, and FrSky’s advanced aircraft stabilization system in one unit.

Up to three compatible receivers can be connected for redundant control signal and telemetry operation. The dual XT30 power inputs can operate in either Balance Mode or user-configured Backup Mode, helping maintain reliable power delivery if one receiver or power source develops a problem.

Dual Power Inputs and Adjustable Dual BEC

The two XT30 battery inputs accept 7.4–26 volts DC, with FrSky recommending 3S–6S lithium batteries. Two independent BEC output groups can each be configured between 5.0 and 8.4 volts:

  • BEC 1: VOut1 and channels 1–9
  • BEC 2: VOut2, channels 10–24, and the remaining ports

This allows different groups of connected equipment to operate at separate voltages when required. Each power source must be capable of safely supplying the full load of the connected equipment.

Triple Receiver Redundancy

Three receiver input ports provide receiver signal redundancy using compatible FBUS, SBUS, or S.Port connections. The receiver inputs automatically recognize the connected signal type. When compatible equipment is used, the RB-35S can provide both control-signal and telemetry redundancy.

Please note: Receivers are not built into the RB-35S and must be purchased separately.

Advanced Aircraft Stabilization

The RB-35S includes FrSky’s Advanced Stabilizer system with Basic and Advanced operating modes. Available stabilization functions include:

  • Three-axis stabilization
  • Automatic level mode
  • Emergency automatic level mode
  • Hover mode
  • Knife-edge mode
  • Adjustable gyro gain
  • Support for conventional, delta, flying-wing, and V-tail aircraft configurations

Basic Mode provides the standard stabilization channel arrangement. Advanced Mode allows additional output configuration through FrSky’s RBmixer software. The stabilizer must be properly mounted, calibrated, configured, and direction-checked before flight.

Integrated Protection and Telemetry

  • Overload protection on every channel
  • Current detection on channels 1–9
  • Battery and system telemetry monitoring
  • High-precision altitude and vertical-speed telemetry sensors
  • Full black-box data recording
  • Support for an optional external LED indicator
  • Built-in support for compatible optional external power switches

Important Installation Notes

  • The RB-35S is a redundancy bus and power-management system; it is not a standalone receiver.
  • A 2S lithium battery may not provide enough input voltage to produce the full 8.4 V BEC output.
  • Verify that the selected BEC voltage is safe for every servo and device connected to that output group.
  • Each battery or power source should be capable of supplying the aircraft’s complete electrical load.
  • Only the S.Port connection at RX1 can be used for firmware updates.
  • Telemetry redundancy is not available when the system is used with ACCST receivers.
  • Always calibrate the stabilizer and verify every compensation direction before flight.
