Gator RC Propeller & Spinner Backplate Drill Jig – EME, DLE, DA & RCGF Engines
The Gator RC Propeller & Spinner Backplate Drill Jig is designed to help accurately drill propeller and spinner backplate mounting holes for popular RC gasoline engines including EME, DLE, DA, RCGF, and many others using the same bolt pattern.
Made from hardened steel with a precision-machined drill pattern, this jig helps improve hole alignment while reducing the chance of crooked or misaligned drilling. The knurled outer surface provides improved grip during installation and removal.
This drill jig is ideal for giant scale RC airplanes using larger gas engines where accurate propeller and spinner alignment is critical for smooth operation and reduced vibration.

Why Use a Propeller Drill Jig?
Accurately drilled propeller bolt holes are critical for proper spinner alignment, smooth engine operation, and reduced vibration. A drill jig helps guide the drill bit through the correct bolt pattern while keeping the holes evenly spaced and centered.
Installation Tips
- Mount the drill jig securely to the propeller hub area
- Drill from the back side of the propeller whenever possible
- Back the drill bit out frequently to clear wood chips
- Install a bolt into the first completed hole to maintain alignment while drilling the remaining holes
- Do not force the drill bit through the propeller material
Propeller Orientation Tip
When drilling gas airplane propellers, orient the propeller blades horizontally at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions relative to the compression stroke. This can help reduce damage to the propeller and airframe during dead-stick landings.
What’s Included
- One hardened steel propeller and spinner backplate drill jig
Modeler’s Tip
For the most accurate results, use the drill jig together with a drill press to help maintain perfectly straight bolt holes through the propeller hub.
