The JP Hobby Combined Retract Controller is an all-in-one control module for JP Hobby ER-120 electric retract systems. It combines retract control, gear door sequencing, and brake control into one compact controller for cleaner wiring and more realistic landing gear operation.

This ER-120 version ships configured for JP Hobby ER-120 retract systems. During initial setup, connect all three retract units and cycle the landing gear three complete times. The controller will identify and record the locked-rotor current of the connected retract motors for reliable operation.

Specifications

V1 vs V2 Door Sequencing

• V1 Mode: Gear doors open, landing gear extends, and the doors remain open while the gear is down.
• V2 Mode: Gear doors open, landing gear extends, and the doors close again after the gear is down.

Initial ER-120 Setup

1. Connect all three ER-120 retract units to the controller.
2. Power the system using the recommended 2S LiPo input.
3. Cycle the landing gear three complete times.
4. The controller will identify and store the locked-rotor current of the ER-120 retract motors.

Gear Door Programming

Each of the three gear door channels can be configured independently for door position and servo direction.

V1 / V2 Position Setup

1. Press and hold the Mode button for approximately 5 seconds.
2. The red LED indicates V1 setup mode.
3. Press the Mode button again to switch to V2 setup mode, indicated by a blue LED.
4. If no button is pressed for a few seconds, the controller automatically advances to the next channel.
5. After all three channels are configured, the controller exits setup mode automatically.

Servo Direction Setup

1. Press and hold the Mode button for approximately 10 seconds.
2. The controller enters servo direction setup mode.
3. Press the Mode button to reverse the selected gear door servo direction.
4. If no button is pressed for a few seconds, the controller automatically advances to the next channel.
5. After all three channels are configured, the controller exits setup mode automatically.

Important Notes

• Do not power retracts directly. Always use the controller.
• Do not hot-plug connectors while the system is powered on.
• If an LED remains lit after operation, power off immediately and check the system.
