Keep your RC airplane wheels securely positioned with Gator RC Wheel Collars. Designed to prevent unintended wheel movement along the landing gear axle during taxi, takeoff, landing, and flight, these wheel collars provide a dependable, simple mechanical solution for standard RC aircraft.

Each wheel collar locks down securely using an included set screw (grub screw) for a positive grip on the metal axle shaft. Available in three popular sizes, these collars are ideal for new aircraft builds, routine field repairs, or as essential spares for your flight box.

Available Axle Sizing Options:

  • 3mm (0.118" Inner Diameter) — Ideal for small park flyers and electric sport models.
  • 4mm (0.157" Inner Diameter) — Matches our full-address Gator RC 4mm Aluminum Wheel Axles.
  • 5mm (0.197" Inner Diameter) — Built for heavy-duty main struts on large-scale and giant-scale aircraft.

⚠ Sizing & Fitment Note: Always check your exact landing gear wire or axle shaft diameter before ordering. If your model uses standard imperial wire sizes, note that a 3mm collar fits standard 1/8" wire, a 4mm collar accommodates 5/32" wire, and a 5mm collar matches 3/16" gear wire.

💡 Installation Guide

  • Slide the internal wheel collar onto the axle, insert the wheel hub, and slide the external wheel collar into place.
  • Leave a tiny, fraction-of-a-millimeter gap between the collars and the wheel hub face so the wheel spins completely free without friction or binding.
  • For a permanent lock on smooth steel music wire axles, file a tiny flat spot onto the wire surface exactly where the set screw meets it.
  • The flat spot creates a solid mechanical shelf that stops the collar from spinning or walking loose over time.
  • Always apply a small drop of medium-strength thread locker to the grub screw threads during your final workbench assembly.
